Advanced Antimicrobial Wound Protection

Silverlon® Surgical Dressings are the safest and most powerful antimicrobial surgical barrier wound dressings available, and should be placed in primary contact with the surgical incision. Silverlon® Surgical Dressings are different (Cura Surgical).

All Silverlon® Surgical Dressings are composed of a wound contact layer of Silverlon® and an absorbency pad. Silverlon® Wound Pad Dressings have a patent pending backing layer of perforated polyurethane film that allows moisture to be released from or added to the absorbency pad for non adherence and easy inspection. Silverlon® Island Surgical Dressings have a 2 inch of tape border. In both cases, the Silverlon® wound contact layer provides an antimicrobial barrier to all known environmental and wound pathogens.

OR Guidelines for Use

Silverlon® Surgical Post-Op Wound Pad Dressings are antimicrobial barrier wound dressings that are placed in primary contact with the surgical incision and may be used for up to 7 days.
Remove Surgical Wound Dressing from Pouch
Applying the Silverlon® Surgical Wound Pad Dressing in the OR at Closure

    1)   Cleanse the incision using standard protocols.

    2)   Activate Silverlon® by wetting the entire silver surface with sterile water.

Wetting tips:

Remove dressing from pouch and let soak in bowl of sterile water prior to closure, wringing out excess water before application;
or
Open pouch at one end and add 1 to 2 ounces of sterile water to the dressing letting it lie until ready for use, and gently wring out excess water before application.

    3)   Center and secure the Silverlon® Surgical Wound Pad Dressing (silver surface down) directly over the surgical incision and onto peri-wound skin. Gently press down the tape borders to ensure good skin contact.

    4)   Cover the Silverlon® Surgical Wound Pad Dressing with Telfa® gauze, or other absorptive dressing of choice, and secure with tape.
