Advanced Antimicrobial Wound Protection

Silverlon® Surgical Dressings are the safest and most powerful antimicrobial surgical barrier wound dressings available, and should be placed in primary contact with the surgical incision. Silverlon® Surgical Dressings are different (Cura Surgical).

All Silverlon® Surgical Dressings are composed of a wound contact layer of Silverlon® and an absorbency pad. Silverlon® Pad Dressings have a patent pending backing layer of perforated polyurethane film that allows moisture to be released from or added to the absorbency pad for non adherence and easy inspection. Silverlon® Island Surgical Dressings have a 2 inch of tape border. In both cases, the Silverlon® wound contact layer provides an antimicrobial barrier to all known environmental and wound pathogens.

• For external application only, remove prior to MRI scanning.
• Silverlon® dressings are contraindicated for patients with known sensitivity to silver or nylon.
• Silverlon® Surgical Dressings have been reported to reduce the pain, swelling and inflammation from acute wounds.

• Gently lift one side of the tape edges and fold the dressing over. After examination, reposition the Silverlon® Surgical Dressing over the incision and gently press down on the tape borders. Re-tape the edges to secure the dressing as needed.

• Moisture may be added to the dressing’s silver pad if it appears dry, or to reduce adherence. Use sterile, distilled, or tap water as a rewetting agent.
• Replace dressing if it is saturated with blood.

• If systemic body temperature elevation is greater that 102⁰ F for 2 consecutive 4 hour intervals.
• If there is purulent drainage from the wound site.
• If there is odor from the wound site.
• Per Professional Discretion

• Remove and dispose of the used surgical dressing.
• Take a new Silverlon® Island Surgical Dressing from its pouch and fold back the release Liner, exposing the Silverlon® pad but not the adhesive tape borders.
• Activate the Silverlon® Island Surgical Dressing by wetting the Silverlon® pad with 1 ounce of sterile, distilled, or tap water.

  Wetting tip: Using a bulb or piston syringe, or bottle of sterile water, evenly pour the water across the entire surface of the Silverlon® pad ensuring even moisture level throughout the pad.

• Remove the release liner and center the Silverlon® Island Dressing over the incision. Gently press down on the tape borders to ensure good skin contact.

Important Note: The discharge dressing may be left in place and worn continually for 7 days, with no additional dressing maintenance required. Patient may shower with the dressing in place, and can re-tape the dressing if the edges start to peel up.
